"It Began in Afrika" is the first single from The Chemical Brothers' fourth album Come with Us. Originally named "Electronic Battle Weapon 5" to DJs, "It Began In Afrika" became a hit in clubs and was renamed.[1] The song contains a sample from the track "Drumbeat" from Jim Ingram.

The Chemical Brothers have occasionaly said they are not "keen on the song".. Only a week before the single was released, "Song for Shelter / Ya Mama", a collaboration single between Fatboy Slim (artist) and The Chemical Brothers (remixer/producer) was released.
